Besiktas’s president Fikret Orman is set to fly to England later this week to meet Marouane Fellaini, according to reports in the Turkish media.

Sporx, a Turkish news outlet, have claimed that Besiktas are finally ready to press the accelerator on their move for Fellaini, having courted him for a couple of months now. The president of the club is set to have a sit down with the Belgian, his brother Mansour and his agent in order to discuss the move.

Fellaini is not without his detractors, and for quite a while, he was rather unfairly seen as evidence of the disaster that was David Moyes’s time in charge of United. However, the midfielder has pulled through the constant hate and criticism and proved his worth over the last couple of seasons.

Jose Mourinho values Fellaini as an important part of the squad, and is trying his best to tie him down to a new deal. However, it could be an advantage if the 30-year-old leaves as Mourinho has already been told that the only way he can add to his squad is if he sells off his fringe players.

Negotiations are still ongoing between United and Fellaini and nothing is conclusive yet, but it is looking all the more likely that he will leave. Fellaini’s contract expires in the summer as well, so the Old Trafford outfit would do well to sell him or risk losing him for free in the summer.
