RB Leipzig Director Of Football Sheds Light On Rumours

Manchester United are yet to contact RB Leipzig’s head of recruitment Paul Mitchell, who has been linked with the director of football role at the Old Trafford club.

The Red Devils had a terrible summer transfer window, which has led to their downfall in the Premier League this season. Jose Mourinho was keen to add a central defender, but Ed Woodward wasn’t ready to grant the funds for the likes of Toby Alderweireld or Harry Maguire.

The effects of their poor business have been evident on the pitch, which is why United have decided to bring in a director of football to monitor the club’s transfer activity, as the Glazers look to restructure the footballing operations in the coming years.

A number of candidates have emerged over the past few months, with Manchester-born Paul Mitchell getting heavily linked with the job. The 37-year-old could come into the club to help Ed Woodward, who has disappointed Mourinho on multiple occasions this season.

Paul Mitchell revealed that he is flattered by the rumours, and is enjoying the prospect of joining the biggest club in Europe. However, he also insisted that there has been no contact from Manchester United yet.

“There hasn’t been any contact with United at this moment,” Mitchell said (via MEN). “For me, it’s always about focusing on the job in hand. I’m more than aware I work for a great organisation, but then like always you never know in football what can happen in the future.

Manchester United are recognised for being one of the biggest clubs in the world. So any link with a club of that size, history and status is very flattering and I am a Manchester boy.”

It is unlikely that Mitchell would join the club soon, as Manchester United officials are willing to take some time before making the final call.

In the meantime, Jose Mourinho continues to look for a defensive recruit for the January window, and it will be interesting to see if Woodward decides to shell out some cash and deliver on the gaffer’s targets once the transfer window opens.

Jadon Sancho’s impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund could earn him a move back to Manchester soon.

Manchester United‘s forwards are struggling to find the net this season. Anthony Martial has managed to find his form, scoring 4 goals in the last three fixtures, but Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford continue to endure droughts that don’t look likely to end anytime soon.

The Red Devils have lacked the services of a proper right-winger since Antonio Valencia dropped back to play in the defence. Rashford has featured on that side of the pitch for most of this season, but being a natural striker, has failed to make a proper impact from the flank.

Jose Mourinho made multiple attempts to sign a winger in the summer, but Ed Woodward failed to deliver during the transfer window.

Manchester United are said to be eyeing a move for Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho in the next summer window. The 17-year-old winger has been in brilliant form this season, scoring 5 goals and providing 7 assists.

Gareth Southgate was impressed by his performances, and handed him his first national cap against Croatia this month. The teenager has begun attracting interest from clubs all around Europe as well.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes suggests that English clubs are looking to make a move for Sancho, having stated: “Two English youngsters are lighting up the Bundesliga right now, and while Sancho looks likely to return to these shores, the latest betting suggests Nelson could make his stay in Germany a permanent one.”

Dortmund have adopted a policy to not include buy-back clauses when young stars join their club, but Manchester City managed to convince them, and have first rights on Jadon Sancho. However, United are still considered favourites to land the Englishman if he decides to leave in the near future.

Manchester United beat Everton 2-1 at Old Trafford to move to eighth in the Premier League standings.

Jose Mourinho’s side saw Frenchmen Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial score, before Everton pulled one back. But credit to United for holding on and sealing three points.

Pogba was instrumental in United’s win, but also the culprit for the goal conceded after losing possession.

Meanwhile, at Sky Sports, in their match programme, television pundit Graeme Souness was seen surprisingly praising the star midfielder. The former Liverpool man has always been known as someone who has been overly critical of the France international.

He has always repeatedly launched scathing attacks on the former Juventus man, having also recently suggested that Pogba “only plays for himself,” and that he “treats football as a bit of a joke.”

On Sunday, Souness was present at the match programme for the clash between United and Everton, where he surprisingly had a sudden change of heart for the 25-year-old, shocking his fellow pundits in the process.

Souness stated: “Pogba’s been really good. I think he’s moved the ball quickly, he’s been uncomplicated, he made the pass to Martial to get the penalty. He’s been really good today – if he could do that week-in, week-out, then we’d be talking about him as a proper player.”

The pundit also felt that the penalty earned by United was a wrong call by the referee, as he added: “That’s not a penalty. I played a long time, that’s never a penalty. I don’t care (if an ex referee says it’s a penalty). I played the game.”

Manchester United Star To Sign A New Contract Regardless Of Mourinho’s Future

Anthony Martial has decided to sign a new contract at Manchester United, irrespective of whether Jose Mourinho remains at the club next season.

Mourinho’s job was under great danger two weeks ago, but since then, Martial has risen to the occasion, scoring 3 goals in the games against Newcastle and Chelsea.

The winger has managed to buy some time for his gaffer to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Last week, emerging reports stated that the Frenchman would consider signing a new contract if the club decided to sack Mourinho at the end of this season. But Martial seems to have had a change of heart after his impressive performances in recent weeks.

RMC Sport now claim that the 22-year old wants to extend his stay at Old Trafford. According to the report, Manchester United are preparing a new contract, which they shall offer to the player ‘very soon’, which could see if earn upto €200,000 per-week.

Mourinho was keen to sell Martial before the transfer window closed this summer, but Ed Woodward stepped in and blocked the youngster’s departure. The vice-chairman, who is a huge fan of the player, wants to ensure that the club keeps hold of the Frenchman.

No wonder David de Gea is regarded as the best in business among goalkeepers. On another disappointing night for Manchester United, the Spaniard produced a world class show.

United were left with a 0-1 defeat in the hands of Juventus in a crucial Champions League encounter at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo set the goal in the 17th minute with a brilliant cross that saw Pablo Dybala slot home from close range. Ronaldo wasn’t just done there. He had De Gea made a save from a free-kick with a powerful strike before extracting a world class save in the 2nd half.

It was indeed a glorious team move as Juventus combined well with Miralem Pjanic, before being picked out by former Chelsea winger Juan Cuadrado on the edge of the box. Ronaldo hit an extraordinary first-time strike that was heading in the top corner.

But De Gea tipped it over the bar in stunning fashion.

It would have been some goal for the former United legend. Ronaldo was superb with his powerful shot, but credit to De Gea for doing what he does best. No wonder the Spaniard is the best goalkeeper in the world.

The save draw a lot of attention from pundits and fans alike on social media sites. Some even called it the save of the season already.

United were lucky not to lose the match by a bigger margin. They have three more games to go and need at least two wins to have a chance for qualification to the knockout stages.

Juventus will be the favourites in their next match as they host United in Turin. Hopefully that tie will see men playing against men rather than men against boys as Rio Ferdinand summed it up.

Anthony Martial Finally Opens Up About His “Issues” With Jose Mourinho

Reuters/Jason Cairnduff

Anthony Martial has finally opened up about his supposedly “strained” relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

The Manchester United starlet starred in the Red Devils’ 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday, by bagging both the goals at Stamford Bridge. His display earned him an approving pat and an embrace from the gaffer on the touchline, along with some praiseworthy comments.

The United fanbase was left delighted by these aforementioned sights, as they indicated that things might finally be heading in the right direction as far as the France international’s relationship with Mourinho was concerned.

Martial had reportedly fallen out with the Portuguese tactician, and the former’s agent, Philippe Lamboley, confirming that the youngster was indeed unhappy at Old Trafford had only made the matter worse in the summer.

But now, Martial himself has finally cleared the air. Speaking after the 2-2 draw in London, Martial revealed: “Come on, things were not tense between us to begin with. We have a player-coach relationship and I hope that we will continue like that and bring Manchester United as much as possible.”

The 22-year-old has managed to score thrice in the previous two Premier League fixtures, and when asked about his recent goal-scoring form, he replied: “It has done me the world of good, of course.

“However, ultimately, I am disappointed. We deserved to win (vs Chelsea) but we shipped the goal in the last minute and it cost us.”

Martial further spoke about how the recent results against Newcastle and Chelsea have eased the pressure of the Red Devils, by adding: “We were not doing well. However, we worked hard and this sort of match enabled us to show that we are a good team.

“We want to continue with another good game against Juventus on Tuesday.”

Chelsea’s Transfer Plan To Decide The Future Of Spurs And Man Utd Target

Manchester United and Tottenham will have to wait for Chelsea‘s decision on Nathan Ake due to an agreement they have in place with Bournemouth.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Nathan Ake had agreed to join Tottenham once the transfer window opens in January. The 23-year-old was forced to come out and clear the air, revealing that no deal is in place at the moment.

Spurs are not the only club interested in the Dutch International, however, as Jose Mourinho is also keen to make some additions to his defence after a terrible start this season.

The Red Devils’ gaffer has identified Ake as a short-term fix to save his job, as he lines up a move for Toby Alderweireld next summer.

But both clubs could face disappointment in their pursuit. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea agreed to a ‘handshake deal’ with Bournemouth, which gives them the first rights of signing their youth product if he decides to leave.

The Blues will have to pay £40 million to re-sign Nathan Ake, double than what they got for him in 2017.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri shall decide whether to make a move for the Dutchman once the window opens in January. Gary Cahill and Andreas Christensen could leave the club soon, as opportunities are pretty scarce at the Bridge.

With the transfer market broken, the Blues are unlikely to pass the opportunity of signing a promising defender who has proven himself in the Premier League.

But it could prove to be a tricky situation if Ake has other destinations in mind, which is quite likely, unless the Dutch defender forgets that the same club was unable to provide him with a chance to prove his abilities a few years ago.

Lukaku Praises Juventus; Hints At A Potential Future Switch

Romelu Lukaku has expressed his desire to move to the Serie A after his time with Manchester United ends.

The Red Devils are having a difficult season, as they sit in the 8th position on the Premier League table, and will be facing Chelsea and Manchester City in 2 of their next 3 games.

One of their major concerns is their finishing in front of goal, with star striker Romelu Lukaku coming under intense criticism for missing easy opportunities.

But the Mancunians are more concerned about his recent comments. In a recent interview, the Belgian international hinted that a move to Italy could be on the cards, as he praised Juventus, United’s upcoming Champions League opponents.

In an assessment of the Biaconeri’s squad, Lukaku revealed that Ronaldo, Dybala, and Douglas Costa are their best players. He also had praises for their manager, Massimiliano Allegri, which could be considered as a swipe on Mourinho.

“Why not? I hope it happens,” Lukaku told Gazzetta dello Sport when asked if he would ever move to Italy.

He then went on to speak about Juventus, as he opined: “Juve have a great project in place and they just keep going. Every year they try to get stronger. Without doubt, Juve are one of the two-three best teams in Europe. They’ve got a great coach on the bench and extraordinary players in every area of the team.

What Man United Will Do If David De Gea Fails To Sign New Deal By January

“Cristiano Ronaldo stands out, but watch out for the others too. Paulo Dybala is already impressive and getting stronger, while I love Douglas Costa. He’s an exceptional signing and his career shows he always makes the difference.”

Despite his poor form at Manchester United, Lukaku is having an incredible time with his national side. The Belgian has scored 5 goals in their last 3 matches, including a brace against Switzerland on October 12.

United fans will be hoping that he would bring this international form to Old Trafford, as the Red Devils enter a difficult run of fixtures following the return of club football.

BlameFootball
Eden Hazard Makes An Astonishing Claim About Jose Mourinho

Reuters / Matthew Childs

The mark of a good manager rests on several factors. While a trophy-laden resume and a warm personality that is loved by the media and supporters are certainly amongst the things a manager can excel in, the comments of the people they work with also hold a vital position.

Jose Mourinho has served at numerous destinations, nearly all of them being European giants, and as of such, a wide variety of talented individuals have had the chance to function under his tutelage.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see that even after it being years since Mourinho managed him, one star has nothing but praise for the Portuguese gaffer.

Eden Hazard, in a recent interview with Belgian newspaper HLN, says this about his tenure with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea: “If I’m now asked one coach with whom I want to work again, then I say: Mourinho.”

RELATED:

Man Utd Want Serie A Manager To Replace Mourinho, Contact Already Made

He goes on to add about Mourinho’s attitude towards players: “If the results are poor, he starts criticising his players – you know that, but afterwards I’ve been able to accept that, it’s part of his character.

🗣Media: "Attacking players hate to play under Mourinho."

🇧🇪Hazard: "If I’m now asked one coach with whom I want to work again, then I say: Mourinho.”

🇵🇹Ronaldo: "Work with Mourinho again? Why not? I would put him at the top, I always say that." pic.twitter.com/4fmdDlLKux

— BlameFootball (@blamefootball) October 13, 2018

In fact, his words may be the perfect advice for those stars at Manchester United who may be facing a hard time under their gaffer: “If you win, Mourinho is the best coach you can imagine.

“I do not regret many things in my career, but that I have not been able to work with Mourinho at Chelsea anymore (is one). We had a team to get a lot of prizes, but we just ended up in a negative spiral.”

Good results spurn on a good mood, no surprises there. However, one also has to question if Mourinho’s demeanor is the only thing at fault. Old Trafford has seldom seen performances as passionate as the 3-2 comeback against Newcastle, and that shows that some hope still remains.

What Pogba Said To Mourinho During Half-Time vs Newcastle

REUTERS/Phil Noble

Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba may be at loggerheads at Manchester United, but what the Frenchman did over the weekend shows things can be sorted out professionally.

United came back to beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford in the Premier League, with the last three goals all coming in the final 20 minutes. It has been learned that Pogba was a major reason behind this comeback against the Magpies.

The player is said to have consulted Mourinho on tactics. According to a report in The Sun, Jose asked Pogba on what the latter thought about changing the shape of the match, and Pogba laid out his ideas.

The World Cup-winning French midfielder suggested a deeper role for himself and also bringing Marouane Fellaini onto the pitch. Mourinho following this advice, and it paid dividends.

Manchester United opted for a reshuffle in midfield, with Nemanja Matic being pushed into the centre of defence. Pogba set himself up as a cushion for the back four, with Fellaini ahead of him in the midfield role.

Pogba was at his best in the second half, and United dominated the game from there on, causing Newcastle all sorts of trouble. Fellaini’s introduction bore fruit and United attacked with gusto.

Hopefully, this victory will serve as a new turning point in United’s season. The Red Devils are 8th in the table with 13 points in their bag, 7 points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

Also, fans will be hoping that Mourinho and Pogba can settled their issues and be real professionals for the sake of the club. Since last season, plenty has gone wrong between the two.

Zidane’s Agent Provides A Massive Update Regarding His Next Destination
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane walks past the trophy during the medal ceremony after winning the Champions League.

REUTERS/Andrew Boyers

Wanted as a player, and now wanted as a gaffer, the allure of Zinedine Zidane knows no bounds. The successful Frenchman made history when he won three consecutive Champions League titles with Real Madrid.

His choice to quit the club prior to the start of this season was equally shocking, and since then, he has become the most eligible manager without a club.

As of such, he was the likely candidate to be picked for Jose Mourinho’s post at Manchester United, with most of the media already baptizing him as the struggling Portuguese manager’s successor.

While recent reports have gone as far as to claim that the Red Devils had asked him to not accept any other offers, a trustworthy claim has emerged with a different piece of news.

RELATED:

REVEALED: Why Man United Officials Met With Mourinho’s Agent

Alain Migliaccio, Zidane’s long-term agent and the famous engineer of his move from Real Madrid to Juventus, feels that United won’t be the destination chosen by the man.

He states (via Le Journal du Dimanche): “He chose to take a sabbatical year. He will not dive back in before (that is over). I do not think he’s going to coach in England; it’s not his style. I’ve discussed it with him, it does not really appeal to him.”

RELATED:

The middleman even went as far as to suggest that Zidane’s likely next destination could be Juventus, as he added: “There is history there. It could happen… He would not necessarily just choose a big club, but could be attracted by a magnificent project.”

The Italian giants are certainly the likelier name to be linked with the gaffer, and were mentioned in the more realistic speculation building up to Zidane’s future.

Further, going to the Old Lady would make sense for him on a personal level, as he’d be chomping titles at those clubs where he formerly won glory at.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic since quite some time, including the summer of 2018.

But now, the Serbian has gone on to pour cold waters to any prospect of moving away, after having signed a new long-term contract with Italian club Lazio, until the year 2023.

Savic, who has been impressing as a midfielder and attracting tremendous interest in recent times, is highly rated as a player.

Reports had stated that besides United, several other Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur, were said to be monitoring his progress.

The Italian club, having always been keen to hold onto the star player, has finally got him to sign a new long-term deal.

Milinkovic-Savic’s form and performances have been rewarded with significantly increased terms and leverages. He has played 128 times for Lazio, scoring 26 times in the process.

Besides tying the Serb, striker Ciro Immobile, who scored 29 league goals last season, has also signed a new deal during this crucial phase for the club, wherein they seek a top 4 finish.

The Italian club is currently 7th in the Serie A. The weekend saw them losing against city rivals Roma on the weekend by a 1-3 margin.

Modern journalism has gone to all extents possible and taken great measures to ensure top stories get uncovered and released to the public.

While feats like the one that unveiled Watergate will forever line media textbooks as brilliant pieces of investigative journalism, some of the more recent takes often thin the line between fact and fiction.

When it comes to football, very few names can be trusted to not make outlandish claims, and even their word is taken with a pinch of salt.

However, it is rare that the writers and the subject of their stories come face-to-face. But when it does occur, sparks are bound to fly, and a recent incident involving Jose Mourinho is evidence for the same.

The Portuguese gaffer was quizzed during a recent press conference about a report suggesting that Zinedine Zidane had called him and told him that he had no interest in attaining his post at Manchester United.

Mourinho’s response to this query was pointing the reporter to the actual journalist who had penned the piece, and who was present at the conference at the time.

While it is surprising to see that Mourinho was able to identify the reporter, Neil Custis, by face, the exchange that followed was even more incredible:

Journalist: “The English press said Zidane called you to assure you he didn’t want your position.”
Mourinho: “Ask the guy behind you, he wrote it.”
Neil Custis: “Oh yeah, he has!”
Mourinho: “He put a bug on my phone.”

While Mourinho seemed in good spirits and laughing in the video, it goes without saying that the gaffer wasn’t all too ecstatic about such news stories.

The adamant nature with which Custis is seen backing his story is either the mark of a reporter who is certain that his facts are straight, or perhaps the nod of a rumourmonger who has been caught in the act.
