Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to sign TWO Real Madrid players this summer, with the future of Gareth Bale hanging in the balance after he hinted he may be willing to leave the Bernabeu.

United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is also desperate to land the Welsh superstar as the club’s marquee summer signing, according to The Sun.

But his manager is egging Woodward on to find extra cash to fund the capture of the 28-year-old winger, in order to keep this cash available for spending on other players he is more interested in.

The Old Trafford boss believes he is close to finalising deals for long-term central midfield targets Fred and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

However, reports indicate that the Manchester United manager is also interested in signing midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid.

Kovacic, who has previously been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal, has struggled to establish himself in Madrid, and could be tempted by the promise of regular first-team football at Old Trafford.

The logic is that he fills a vacant spot as a versatile central midfielder in the mould of Michael Carrick, who played his last professional game for United this month.

How Real Madrid Players Reacted To Zidane’s Departure

Mourinho is understood to be keeping forward signings on the backburner following Alexis Sanchez’s swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Arsenal in January.

Bale’s wage demands could prove to be another bone of contention. United could, though, reach an agreement on this issue with ease, having already been named as the most valuable football club in the world.

With Real’s roster situation in flux, the news of Zinedine Zidane’s stepping down is set to cause even more uncertainty and discontinuity in Los Blancos’ locker room.

The World Of Football Reacts To Loris Karius’ Apologetic Social Media Posts Following UCL Final Fiasco

The horrid mistakes of German goalkeeper Loris Karius cost Liverpool the UEFA Champions League title. While the splendid bicycle kick of Gareth Bale can be a mistake forgiven, the fumbling of Benzema opener and Bale’s second goal are certainly hard to let go.

Fans have been trolling and criticizing the German for his mistakes, some even going to the extreme ends with alleged, and already his future at Liverpool has come under some question.

But it is interesting to see what the players, the actual people who week in and week out play the great game, have to say about the follies of the 24-year-old.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson had this to say: “The first goal I am not sure what happened, whether Karim Benzema stopped it with his hand, and then the overhead kick he could do nothing about.

“The third goal, the ball had loads of movement on it. It is not the mistakes Loris Karius made, we got to the final as a team and lose as a team. It is about everybody.”

In fact, after the full-time whistle, Bale himself walked to a clearly distraught Karius and consoled him about how things turned about in a classy gesture of sportsmanship. Nacho was another Real Madrid player who took the initiative, even prior to any of Karius’ own teammates did so.

On social media, however, these teammates were in full-fledged support, particularly Sadio Mané, Dejan Lovren, and Liverpool loanee Divock Origi as well as former Red Lucas Leiva.

Likewise, Jamie Carragher was also seen visibly walking towards Karius and consoling him after the full-time whistle in Kiev.

The traveling crowd also seemed sympathetic to the keeper, who apologized to them with tears streaming down his face. Hopefully, the mistakes will be left behind and he carries on as a better player for the future.

All in all, mistakes are a part and parcel of the game, and it is heartwarming to see most of these individuals coming out and standing with Karius in his time difficulty. Perhaps he’ll never walk alone after all.

Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd are looking to strengthen their midfield in the summer, and after being touted to land Fred, they also feel that Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be another viable addition.

With Marouane Fellaini’s future under the clouds and Michael Carrick retiring, United are in the market to get classy midfielders, and they are willing to go the distance to land Savic.

The player is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in the world at the moment and getting him alongside Fred will be a superb deal.

According to an update from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Mancunian club made an inquiry for Savic some days ago.

WATCH: 7 Things to Know About Fred

But he also added that United haven’t made an official bid, but are monitoring the situation. Lazio is believed to be asking a hefty sum for the 23-year-old.

This shows that the club could be landing Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred first and then have negotiations with Lazio for Savic.

With several other top clubs said to be keeping an eye on the player, United will have to act swiftly, before Lazio agrees a deal elsewhere provided they receive a bid.

Savic is said to have a skill-set that suits Mourinho’s style of play. His dribbling and passing skills are proven to be world-class, and a defensive awareness coupled with an ability to create spaces up-front will mean that he will be an all-round positive addition to a squad that has often seemed wanting for creativity in the past.

Man Utd Offered Chance To Sign Portugal International By Super Agent

Man Utd Offered Chance To Sign Portugal International By Super Agent

REUTERS/Jon Nazca

Agents play a crucial role these days in ensuring that players choose their next destinations in a manner that is most favorable and lucrative.

As a result, young stars, in particular, are often straight up offered in deals to big names in an attempt to secure futures.

Now, Man Utd may be on the receiving end of one such starlet, and the player in question may prove to be a great purchase.

As per FcInterNews.it, super-agent Kia Joorabchian has offered United with an opportunity to sign Joao Mario in the summer. The 25-year-old Portuguese has been on loan at West Ham for the past few months, and now, his parent-club Inter may be looking at other options.

WATCH: 7 Players United Need To Become Great Again

The source adds that the Nerazzurri want around £22-26 million for the midfielder. His stint at West Ham has led to two goals and one assist in 13 appearances. It is understood that a one-year long loan spell with an option to buy is on the table.

At the same time, the agent is also seeking other options, with Valencia also considered to be a side interested in signing the player.

Moreover, West Ham themselves may retain his services, as they are reported to be waiting on the thumbs-up of their preferred new manager Manuel Pellegrini before making a move. It is important to note that Mario was happy with his spell in England.

Jose Mourinho is clearly a fan of the player, as he has stated in a recent interview regarding the prospect of purchasing him: “Why not? Joao just had to settle down. He is a player who thinks and acts quickly, he has recovered his speed of thought and execution, intensity and aggressiveness. I liked it in every game more.”

Will a move be made by United in the coming days, or will a bigger player be sought?

7 Players Manchester United Need To Become Great Again

7 Players Manchester United Need To Become Great Again

Reuters/Andrew Boyers

On Saturday, Manchester United’s season concluded in dismal fashion when the FA Cup was lost to Chelsea in a sub-par performance.

This has more or less been the story of the season, as the once great Mancunian club has descended into a spiral of poor showings, and on many occasions been accused of boring football.

Much of this can be attributed to the actual talent at play, and it goes without saying that an overhaul is long overdue at Old Trafford before success can be tasted again. Keeping this in mind, here are seven players United can sign to start winning titles again:

1. Alex Sandro

Major work needs to start at the back, a region that has been ignored for far too long. The very fact that United’s go-to full-backs are veteran wingers Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia alone is a matter of great worry. They may have had a decent run, but a change is a must.

Alex Sandro can be the apt replacement for Young at the left-hand side. The 27-year-old has been linked with the club for quite a while now ,and his prowess at Juventus shows precisely why he’ll be an apt signing.

Further, the Brazilian may finally resurrect the more stable style of United’s forward play, something that Young’s lack of defensive experience has proven damaging on few occasions.

2. Djibril Sidibe

A relatively newer name linked with the English side, the Frenchman will be an apt successor to Antonio Valencia.

His knack for long-shots and a proven capability of sharp crosses combined with a strong defensive presence makes him an all-around improvement to the squad. Moreover, the player is known to be a steady tackler and this can be a vital one-up to Valencia.

With multiple reports claiming that a transfer is imminent, this move is bound to repair one of United’s most lasting flaws. Further, at merely 25 years of age, Sidibe can prove to be a long-term resident at Old Trafford.

3. Toby Alderweireld

A bid that United are on the cusp of making. The Belgian will be an apt partner for Eric Bailly in the heart of United’s defense, and it goes without saying that he will be a marked improvement to the likes of Smalling and Jones.

Further, his versatility to also function as a right-back could prove very valuable in the event of an injury or an all-out attacking change. While not the best in aerial duels, his passing and knack for playing long balls can certainly make up for it.

At 29 years of age, his arrival will be the final cog to ensure United’s defense remains firm.

4. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic celebrates scoring their first goal.

REUTERS/Alberto Lingria

It goes without saying that United need to sort out their midfield woes. Their current 4-3-3 lineup, suited for Pogba’s style of play, desperately needs a third midfielder of equal offensive capabilities.

With the futures of Fellaini and Herrera uncertain, the club has been heavily touted to make the big money signing of the 23-year-old.

The Serb’s style of play will be the extra bit of creativity that has been heavily lacking in the United of this season, and this is a transfer that Mourinho can’t afford to miss out on.

5. Gareth Bale

The perpetually talked-about transfer that now more than ever seems likely to go into fruition. The 28-year-old Welshman’s future at Real Madrid is all but over, and United has been the side that is most linked with signing him.

Their selection dilemmas and subsequent results have proven that United desperately need a specialist at the right forward position. Despite trying out Mata and Lingard at the spot, it goes without saying that a world-class arrival alone will ensure that the forward play is not one-sided, and Bale is proven to provide just that.

6. Fred

Amongst the flurry of midfield names that the club has been linked with, it is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred who has been the most strongly touted to arrive.

The 25-year-old Brazilian could potentially function as the backup to Matic, and his age makes him another long-term talent to nurture at Old Trafford.

This will be aided by the fact that his defensive contributions have been very strong, and he is also quite an adept passer of the ball, making him invaluable in potential conduit play.

7. Paulo Dybala

Paul Scholes stated United’s biggest need best when he stated: “They need a big player, [Paul] Pogba does not win you games on your own, [Alexis] Sanchez doesn’t… Hazard does. They thought Sanchez could but he hasn’t. They have to improve. They need that magical player, two magical players.” (via BT Sport)

Dybala certainly meets the criterion for a ‘magical’ player given his ability to be a match-winner all on his own. United need to prioritize such a signing, as it will best enable them to attain the domestic and European glory they so badly ache for.

In the young Argentine, they’ll find both a goal-scoring intent as well as a much-needed source of creative play up front.

Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.

REUTERS/Alberto Lingria

All in all, regardless of how many players Mourinho signs and the money he’ll splash, the most important thing he needs to do is find his proper starting XI in which almost every player can perform to the best of their potential and no talent goes in vain. Only then does the side stand a chance.

Premier League Giants Want To Sign Anthony Martial For Their Next Manager

Chelsea have reportedly prepared a transfer shortlist for Antonio Conte’s successor.

The Italian tactician looks set to part ways with the London club following Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United, irrespective of the result at Wembley.

Meanwhile, the Blues have already identified Conte’s potential replacements, with the likes of Luis Enrique, Maurizio Sarri, and Mauricio Pochettino being some of the top candidates on their radar.

As per Daily Mail, however, there is a growing worry at the Stamford Bridge outfit that they might miss out on signing top players amid the uncertainty of who will end up becoming the next Chelsea manager.

WATCH: 7 Things That Will Happen If Neymar Joins United

Therefore, the club has prepared a shortlist of players to present Conte’s replacement, so as to act swiftly and finalise the transfers as soon as the go-ahead from the new boss is received.

RELATED:

5 Reasons Why Anthony Martial Should Stay At Manchester United

Two players occupy this shortlist at present, the first being Nice star Jean Michael Seri. The impressive box-to-box midfielder has attracted interest from Arsenal as well, but Chelsea seem to have already opened discussions with the 26-year-old’s representatives.

The second player on the list is, surprisingly, Manchester United starlet Anthony Martial. The out-of-favour winger has found game-time hard to come by under Jose Mourinho, and Chelsea look set to take full advantage of the situation and sign the Frenchman.

Along with Conte, several former managers have expressed their discomfort with the Chelsea board’s massive involvement in transfers. But as evident from this report, the top officials at the club hardly intend to put a stop to it anytime soon.

Manchester United will have to start next season bereft of a fine name on their roster.

The club faced a shock announcement on Saturday evening when Jose Mourinho’s long-term assistant manager announced that he would be departing the club at the end of this season.

Rui Faria has held a 17-year-long relationship with Mourinho at the numerous clubs in which the gaffer managed and managed to nurture a really strong bond.

His stint at United also left a strong impact on him, as he stated in his departing statement: “I would also like to thank Manchester United and all the clubs where I have had the privilege of working during this period. I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the staff and players who, in different ways, have made an important contribution to my growth as a person and as a professional.

“I wish you all the best for the future, knowing that you will always be my close friends.”

However, with him gone, the obvious question that looms is who will fill his place as Mourinho’s no.2 at Old Trafford.

Manchester United fans didn’t miss a beat on voicing out their obvious candidate on Twitter.

It looks like David de Gea and Manchester United aren’t going to have a peaceful summer with Real Madrid hanging on to their heads. Like every summer transfer window, 2018 too promises a Real love affair with the goalkeeper.

The Galacticos are once again believed to be interested in the United shot-stopper, and that in turn, has propelled Jose Mourinho to look elsewhere for a number one custodian.

The Mancunian club is said to be looking at AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who has had a remarkable season with the Italian club.

The Brazilian keeper is said to have garnered a lot of admirers in Europe, one of them being Manchester United. Roma are believed to have slapped an £88m valuation on the player, and it seems that the Old Trafford unit could be willing to pay this sum.

WATCH: How Mourinho Reacted To Fight Between Pogba And Noble

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, besides United, 2017-18 Champions League finalists Liverpool are also rumoured to be interested in the player, as they seek a decent custodian for next season. But unlike United, the Reds aren’t prepared to pay the massive sum quoted by the Italian giants.

What Mark Noble Tweeted After Clashing With Paul Pogba

Real have been chasing De Gea for quite sometime now, and they had come close to signing him in 2015, when they almost finalised the deal, but faulty paperwork put the transfer off.

Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane is believed to be a long-term admirer of the Spain number one, and the Frenchman still hopes to bring in the superstar to replace Keylor Navas.

Besides De Gea, Madrid are also said to be in for Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois. But contrary reports have also stated that neither United, nor Chelsea are looking to part way with their world-class keepers.

Jose Mourinho had earlier publicly stated that De Gea wasn’t going anywhere in the summer. Therefore, it remains to be seen how this transfer saga eventually unfolds.
