Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-0 Swansea City

Manchester United beat Swansea City 2-0 at Old Trafford to get a grip on the second place in the Premier League table.

Alexis Sanchez scored one and set up another for Romelu Lukaku as Manchester United enjoyed a productive night with a show of positivity.

Here is the player ratings as Jose Mourinho’s side ran out clear winners over Swansea.

David de Gea: 7

Wasn’t troubled much in the game in the first half before two trademark saves in the second. A deserved clean sheet.

Antonio Valencia: 6

Had a shape in his game and covered his place well.

Victor Lindelof: 8

One of his best United performance. Showed the determination and made good interventions.

Chris Smalling: 6

Another decent performance by Smalling. He looked ensured alongside Lindelof.

Ashley Young: 7

Was a lot busier down the left in defence as well as in surging forward. Looked convincing and a shoutout to England manager for a reserved berth in the World Cup.

Nemanja Matic: 7

Looked composed in midfield and passed the ball well.

Paul Pogba: 7

Had a better game in an United shirt. Looked fresh and got into good spaces.

Juan Mata: 8

Was influential in getting into good pockets and influencing the attack. Unlucky not to score.

Jesse Lingard: 8

Set up Alexis Sanchez’s goal and linked up very well with the fellow forward players.

Alexis Sanchez: 9

A real solid performance from the Chilean. Set up Lukaku brilliantly before latching on to Lingard’s through ball and score.

Romelu Lukaku: 9

Was the best player on the pitch. Scored an important goal besides being very confident on the ball.

Substitutions:

Marcus Rashford: 6

Looked lively after coming on as usual. Burst into space and created problems for Swansea.

Ander Herrera: 5

A return after injury for Herrera. He did fine in the midfield and kept the shape.

Scott McTominay: N/A

Did not have impact after coming in right at the 91st minute.
