Having landed Fred and Diogo Dalot, Jose Mourinho’s other pursuits in the transfer market are yet to bear fruit. As things stand, just over a week remains until deadline day, and the progress of Manchester United’s numerous potential deals still stands grim.
As of such, the pursuit of a new name, while a tall order, wouldn’t be entirely a first either. However, the most recent talent that the Red Devils have been linked with is yet another midfielder.
Given Mourinho’s penchant for world-class talent, this player may just be the man for Old Trafford.
As per a recent claim by Marca, Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovačić still remains adamant in his desire to leave to the club.
Now, Manchester United have come knocking with an apparent bid of €60 million to get the 24-year-old Croatian to Old Trafford, and have entrusted the services of intermediary Vlado Lemic to pursue the offer.

However, and much to the dismay of United supporters, the report also adds that Kovacic has no intention of moving to the Premier League, and that Mourinho’s playing style has put him off.
Moreover, this doesn’t mean that he is satisfied at the Bernabeu either, and is expected to remind the La Liga giants of his intent to leave later this week.

Firm in passing, brilliant in holding, and clinical in dribbling, it is indeed a mystery as to why he has been unable to attain his fair share of minutes at the Spanish club. And while a switch to United would fulfill that, the player’s lack of interest does put the move in great doubt.
This is despite the fact that a talent of his caliber could be much-needed at the Mancunian outfit in order to fulfill their bid of winning the league and establishing a firm European hold. Will anything else occur in this potentially short-lived saga?
