Man City star Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out for for 4-6 weeks due to a knee injury.

Having recently recovered from the knee injury he had picked up back in August, the Belgian international made his first domestic start of the season in City’s Carabao Cup encounter against Fulham on Thursday night.

However, during the final 5 minutes of the game, Timothy Fosu-Mensah – Manchester United‘s talented defender who is currently on loan at Craven Cottage – landed heavily on De Bruyne’s knee, accidentally injuring him in the process.

The Sky Blues’ playmaker asked to be taken off immediately, and the subsequent tests conducted by Manchester City‘s medical staff have since provided an estimate regarding the length of his absence due to the injury setback.

The report indicates that the damage done to De Bruyne’s knee is serious enough to keep him on the sidelines for the next 4-6 weeks.

Manager Pep Guardiola confirmed so at Friday’s press conference, as he revealed: “Unfortunately he is injured, but fortunately he will come back in four-six weeks.

The Spanish tactician further added: “He was so sad. But today less sad and tomorrow he will be stronger again. He can spend time with his family, then it’s international break and then he will be back.”

De Bruyne is expected to miss City’s next nine games, including Sunday’s derby against Manchester United at the Etihad, as well as Champions League fixtures against Shakhtar Donetsk and Lyon.
